Skincare: What’s in my January regime?

Just another reminder incase you didn’t realise, it’s 2019. The 2019 New Year posts are in full force (some absolutely wonderfully inspiring ones too I might add). Quick plug….Check out previous post here for my ‘mini goals for 2019’ *wink*.

Sticking in theme of ‘New Year’ & a big thing on everyone’s list being self-care, I thought I’d share my skincare routine and favourite products at the moment, little FYI I absolutely adore & cannot encourage the importance of good skincare enough, so yes this post will be a bit fan girly. First things first, I do like to switch up skincare products every few months, trialing different brands and seeing what suits my skin best, so I’ll keep an updated list of any changes every few months if I find something worth shouting about.

Lets get one thing straight, I am NOT a health freak. I don’t work out (I can feel the judgement but with 2 children, preschool and a job I literally do not have time), I could probably have a healthier diet and I stress out far too much. That being said, I do make a conscious effort to drink water and I have portions of fruit and vegetables throughout my meals in the day. It’s so important that you have a bit of goodness going into your body if you want your skin to reflect that. So the nitty gritty, here’s the products I’ve been trailing to hopefully find my go to’s & what I think about them. I’ve opted to use Simples range of products this month.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water: I mean this product does the job. It freshens up, it cleans and leaves skin feeling soft. My only thing I wish about it is it having a bit more of a ‘scent’ to it. I love almost ‘sterile medical’ skincare smells (Clinique has good examples of this smell) and I just think it could really add a bit of freshness to the product and skin. Still it won’t stop me using it.

Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser: This moisturiser is nice. I feel it takes a bit more of a rub to work into the skin, especially if cold but afterwards my skin feels moisturised, so fair play. I do feel however it almost makes my skin have an almost powdered texture to it, so I don’t think this is the one I’ve been searching for but it’s a great product at that.

Nivea 2in1 Cleanser & Toner: I really don’t know how I feel about this product. I thought I’d give it another go and I don’t know what it is but I just can’t get the balance right. I don’t know whether it is too strong for my skin or it just doesn’t agree with me but without a doubt a few days after use, I will end up with a small breakout in my breakout prone areas, and yes I am removing all product correctly. It feels quite oily too on application. Not my favourite I must say.

Spa Sensitive Fragrance Free Facial Wipes: I thought I’d try cheaper, smaller brand product and I feel like these wipes don’t get wet enough when removing make up, it leads to me use more wipes. I mean they do do the job they are meant too but I feel you need to use more to get the result required. Good enough to use on a budget for sure.

The staple piece, aloe vera Vaseline. My lips are enormously sensitive and amateur dramatics, especially in colder months, I haven’t really found a lip balm that is for me enough to throw my trusted green tinned companion away. I don’t really think I need to say much more on this. The jobs done.

The best lip balm I’ve used is the Burts Bees Coconut and Pear one. It smells amazing and really helps moisturise in the colder months too. Face scrub wise I’m currently using one from Aldi but thinking of investing in a more expensive one to try and see if there’s any difference! x

It’s a case of when you find something bulk buy it in case they stop making it. That happened to me with my mascara, I went to get my new one and they had stopped making it. I now use NYX Worth the Hype mascara and it is fab xx

I love the simple replenishing moisturiser, that used to be my go to and then I stopped when I was introduced to L’Oreals hydra genius! Lovely post, thanks for sharing! x
